Water Fasting Day 7: Easy or Hard?

Woohoo~! One week completed! Just relaxing for 7 days sounds pretty easy right? Not exactly….

Easy Rules

The rules of water fasting are easy:

  1. Don’t eat ANYTHING (“hunger” will go away)
  2. Drink lots of water
  3. Rest and sleep as much as you can

And that’s it!  What could be more simpler!  Especially the part about resting and sleeping!

Nope, It’s Hard

Noop, it’s fucking hard and mentally strenuous.  That’s why I guess there are fasting centers that help people through this.  I’m doing it at home and there is no support, no other people fasting, and i’m surrounded by food and the delicious scent of food everywhere.

It’s not the lack of eating that makes it difficult

Maybe this is not true for everyone. I LOVE eating.  It’s maybe my greatest joy in life.  When I hear people drinking soylent I cringe because that’s a waste of a precious opportunity to eat something tasty.

If I could have a super power, it would be to be able to eat continuously with food still tasting good and not get fat. Seriously. With that said, i’ve always been good with skipping meals here and there and on occasion go a day without eating and not be stricken with hunger as others make it sound like.

What’s So Difficult Then?

Sounds easy, so why aren’t more people doing this?

Yo it is hard!  It’s hard to dedicate that much time consecutively to be in a comatose state. If you’re working, forget about it.

It’s hard to be in a low energy state walking around like a fucking zombie.  Getting all light headed and shit for standing up too quick.

It’s hard being all sickly from the detoxification like i just went through chemo or some shit.  My expert friend says, the more sick you get here, the more you needed this.

It’s hard on your partner if they constantly worried about you. Also you’re looking all sickly with chapped lips and stanky ass breath.

It’s also hard not have sex, playing sports, and meeting friends. If popping a pill takes 5 seconds and you have to take it every day, then extrapolating that to the year is only 30.4 minutes of the year!  No wonder people want to just pop a pill compared to fasting for like 21-30 days!

Not Giving Up

If this email came off as negative, it’s more like me venting my frustration. I’m still going strong.  There is no doubt I will make it to the end of my fast.  I still see value in the fasting process and I think it’s a difference of a bandaid (meds) vs long term cure.  We’ll have to see at the end though if theses benefits come to fruition.

If you’re somewhere in your water fast, congrats and keep going!

Canker Sore Update

My canker sore has been around since day 4 and still going strong.  It’s annoying and it hurts. I have lidocaine for oral use, but I don’t want to use it. But for fun, here’s a pic of it for people that like seeing this shit (like me!).

Ahhh lidocaine, soo good, but I can’t put it on because I don’t want to expose myself to drugs during my fast!
